Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia, Ibiza's third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a beloved destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach, (which is perfectly safe for the kids), and some excellent hotels and apartments in and around the town itself.

Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia des Riu in the local Catalan tongue) was first discovered by island artists, attracted by its picturesque setting among pine-covered hills, and has since grown into a small to medium-size mid-rise holiday resort. Its main attractions are the two long sandy beaches, a new marina, an appealing little rambla and a variety of decent quality places to eat, drink and shop. Unlike other Ibizan resorts, it has managed to retain a good deal of its local character and atmosphere.

Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre. Art Galleries, the beautiful and exclusive Yacht Marina, some of the island's best restaurants, some very exclusive shopping, and a thriving all-year community, ensure that life in Santa Eulalia is led at a rather slower and more relaxing peace. There are some excellent bars here too, but the nightlife is nothing like Ibiza or San Antonio.

Santa Eulalia is much sought after by those desiring a quieter holiday and is a firm favorite for families. The resort offers two main beaches. The sheltered town beach, Platja Santa Eularia des Riu, has fine pale sand, shallow waters and is very safe for bathing. It is backed by cafes, restaurants and hotel developments. Separated from it by a small promontory is Platja Rio de Santa Eularia beach (also known as Els Pins). Located opposite the river mouth, it is made up of two areas of fine white sand and small stones, separated by rocky outcrops, backed by apartments. Both beaches offer most water sports. If you wish to escape the crowds there are several undeveloped coves in the near vicinity, some of them served by boats. The naturist beach of Aigues Blanques is one of the best.

Of all the resorts on Ibiza, Santa Eulalia has become the most popular with people who appreciate good food. It is said that for its size Santa Eulalia provides the best dining on the island, with an impressive number of highly rated restaurants, most of which offer local or Spanish cooking. If you're in need of inspiration head for Calle San Vicente that alone boasts 17 restaurants.
There is a great local scene in Santa Eulalia, typical 'British' pubs, the stylish bars in the Marina or paveside cafes with the locals. The centre of the town is small and everything is within walking distance. A regular bus and boat service connects with the neighbouring resorts of Es Cana and Cala Llonga, and also with Ibiza Town. Boats also go daily to Formentera.

Fashion, souvenirs and designer sports wear - Santa Eulalia offers excellent shopping, all the year.
