If you are interested to visit Tuscany and to explore amazing lands, we offer you a list of top 5 amazing churches in your vacation Tuscany (by important towns):

1. Basilica of San Lorenzo is one of the largest churches of Florence, situated at the centre of the city’s main market district, and the burial place of all the principal members of the Medici family from Cosimo il Vecchio to Cosimo III. The church is part of a larger monastic complex that contains other important architectural works: the Old Sacristy by Brunelleschi; the Laurentian Library by Michelangelo; the New Sacristy based on Michelangelo’s designs; and the Medici Chapels by Matteo Nigetti.

2. The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral church (Duomo) of Florence, that was built in 1296 in the Gothic style to the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th century Gothic Revival facade by Emilio De Fabris.

3. Church of San Paolo a Ripa d’Arno, from Pisa, was built between the 9th and 10th centuries and is one of the most splendid examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture in existence. Inside, the church is huge with three naves with heavy granite columns and capitals featuring archaic figures; it hosts various works of art from medieval times.

4. The Cathedral of Siena is a medieval church in Siena. The cathedral was originally designed and completed between 1215 and 1263 on the site of an earlier structure. It has the form of a Latin cross with a slightly projecting transept, a dome and a bell tower. The dome rises from a hexagonal base with supporting columns. The lantern atop the dome was added by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

5. The Church of San Fabiano, one of the oldest churches in the city, had been in Prato since 1082. The interior has beautiful pavement mosaics that date back to the 9th to 10th century. The bell tower on the church had been added later in the 15th century and is quite noteworthy as well.
